Saif bin Zayed Launches International Award for Policing Ideas

´º½ºÀÏÀÚ: 2015-01-26

ABU DHABI, UAE--(Business Wire/Korea Newswire) January 23, 2015 -- Lt. General HH Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, launched ‘The Ministry of Interior’s Award for Creative Policing Ideas - Policing Ideas.’ The award will honor the top three ideas in fields that serve police work around the world.

In a statement, HH Sheikh Saif said: “The wise leadership and government of the UAE continuously strive to pursue new endeavors in creativity and leadership in a variety of fields. They also believe in the importance of teamwork, on both local and global scales, to contribute to creating a more stable and secure world, and to the provision of prosperous opportunities for the people through the exchange of creative experiences and expertise. Thus, we shall honor those who have shown creativity and who have excelled in developing policing services for all nations.”

“Our federal government firmly believes in the importance of working towards creating the ideal environment for continuous development and modernization based on the unremitting drive to be creative and innovative. Such an environment will thus empower further creative approaches and developments to meet the needs of the community, instill the spirit of cooperation, and build teamwork by transforming the routine culture of work into a creative culture that lives up to today’s requirements across all fields,” HH Sheikh Saif added.

HH Sheikh Saif expressed his hope that the award would achieve its intended objectives, to the benefit of all mankind and of the ties that have been formed between nations and peoples.

The launch of the award was announced Wednesday morning in a press conference held by the Ministry of Interior (MoI) at the Abu Dhabi Police General Headquarters (GHQ), by Major General Dr. Abdul Quddous Abdul Razzaq Al Obaidly, Deputy Commander-in-Chief of Dubai Police for Quality and Excellence Affairs and Head of the Sheikh Khalifa Government Excellence Program's Team at the Ministry of Interior.

The press conference was attended by Major General Dr. Nasser Lakhrebani Al Nuaimi, Secretary General of the Office of HH Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior and Chairman of the Ministry of Interior’s Excellence Awards Committee, who said: “The new award addresses all individuals and institutions around the world in order to fully benefit from the creative experiences and ideas that empower security and stability, and improve the system of police work to the highest levels.”

He additionally stressed the keenness of the MoI to adopt the clear directions of His Highness, the Minister of Interior, to continuously pursue new methods of development and modernization and look beyond traditional and routine methods by implementing modern approaches. To this end, the Ministry will be offering substantial cash prizes to the winners in a bid to encourage competition and motivate them to provide the best creative and applicable ideas.

Through next July, the Awards Secretariat based in the capital, Abu Dhabi, will begin to receive nominations, in accordance with the rules and procedures of the award, via the website: (http://uaeinnovation.ae/policing_creative_ideas_award/). Every two years, a conference will be held in December under the patronage of His Highness, the Minister of Interior. Officials from police and security forces from around the world will be invited. The names of the winners will be announced and they will be honored at the conference. Following the conference, the winning projects will be released and implemented.

Major General Al Obaidly said: “This award seeks to share the best practices and creative ideas that have been implemented within the policing fields of international police departments. It also aims to attract the best practices and creative ideas related to police and security. This will not only develop these fields on local and global levels, but it will also create a more competitive environment for security agencies and institutions and build partnerships with the entities working in innovative and creative fields.”

The award includes ten areas for potential entries: creativity in criminal matters, traffic, modern technologies, customer service, economic security, environment (green applications), human resources, social initiatives, support of human rights, and security and justice.
