SMART Modular Technologies Introduces DDR5 RDIMMs with Conformal Coating for Liquid Immersion Servers

Conformal coating process protects modules from corrosion and provides higher reliability and reduced cost for data center applications

NEWARK, CALIF -- SMART Modular Technologies, Inc. (“SMART”), a division of SGH (Nasdaq: SGH) and a global leader in memory solutions, solid-state drives, and advanced memory, has launched a new line of DDR5 Registered DIMMs (RDIMMs) with conformal coating which are specifically designed for use in liquid immersion servers. This innovative product line combines the superior performance of DDR5 technology with enhanced protection, ensuring reliability and longevity in the most demanding data center environments.

There are three key advantages to designing in DDR5 RDIMMs with conformal coating.

1. Protection against corrosion - Conformal coating protects against corrosion by shielding sensitive electronic components from corrosive elements and by providing a protective barrier against environmental threats, such as oxidation, extending the lifespan of the memory modules.

2. Reduced maintenance - Coating modules aids in maintenance requirements due to the enhanced protection from corrosion, which results in higher reliability and lower maintenance costs.

3. Thermal stability - Conformal coating modules provides thermal stability and makes them particularly well suited for liquid immersion cooling systems, which are gaining popularity for their efficiency and sustainability. Liquid immersion cooling offers a consistent thermal environment, reducing the risk of thermal hotspots and improving overall system reliability.
